A proposed $3.5-billion-dollar power line -- from Wyoming to Nevada -- would cut through Utah, to provide electricity to 1.4 million homes, in Nevada and Southern California.

Open house meetings have been scheduled in the impacted Utah communities, including St. George, Parowan and Milford.

If the project is approved, construction is scheduled to begin on the line in 2017.

It's expected to span a total of 500 miles.
