ABOUT 180-THOUSAND PEOPLE LIVE ON THE NAVAJO NATION, WHICH COVERS 27-THOUSAND SQUARE MILES, NEAR THE GRAND CANYON. 

FEDERAL AND TRIBAL INVESTIGATORS ARE NOW TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE INCREASE.
