IT WAS A DEADLY START TO THE WEEK, MONDAY MORNING -- ON SALT LAKE VALLEY ROADS -- WITH THREE DIFFERENT FATAL ACCIDENTS.

EXCESSIVE SPEED AND SLICK DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE PLAYED A ROLE IN THE INCIDENTS.

ONE MAN WAS KILLED -- NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF 5TH WEST AND 7TH SOUTH -- WHEN HE RAN INTO A PARKED SEMI-TRAILER, IN THE DARKNESS.

ELSEWHERE, A WOMAN WAS KILLED -- WHILE DRIVING HER S-U-V, ON THE WESTSIDE BELT ROUTE -- WHEN SHE LOST CONTROL, SPUN OUT, AND WAS HIT BY A SECOND VEHICLE. THAT SECOND DRIVER WAS NOT HURT.

AND, AN ELDERLY MAN WAS HIT AND KILLED, WHILE WALKING ACROSS REDWOOD ROAD, NEAR 4TH NORTH.  POLICE SAY THE DRIVER IS COOPERATING, AND THE MAN WAS APPARENTLY NOT IN A CROSSWALK.
