Cigarette butts are America’s most littered item, making up 38% of all U.S. roadway litter, according to the nonprofit group Keep America Beautiful.
Jason Alexander (not the Seinfeld actor) has set out on a quest to pick up 1 million cigarette butts. After picking them up, Jason puts on some gloves and counts them one by one, keeping tabs with a notepad and pen.As of early September, he had collected just under 19,000 cigarette butts.
