The smallest surviving baby in the world was released this month from a San Diego hospital after spending 5 months in the hospital. Saybie, was born in December at 23 weeks, 3 days, making her a micro preemie. Miraculously, she didn’t have any of the medical challenges typically associated with babies born before 28 weeks such as lung and heart issues, she simply wasn’t gaining weight. She weighed just 8.6 OUNCES when she was born. She now weighs 5.6 pounds.
