A retired cop in need of a kidney transplant found a donor in someone he’d never expect: a woman he’d arrested several times.
Between 2007-2012, Officer Terrell Potter arrested Jocelynn James multiple times, but she credits him with helping to get her life turned around. Jocelynn now runs a non-profit organization that provides drug counseling to women, and this November she will celebrate 8 years sober.
Last November, Officer Potter learned that his kidney was failing, but doctors said a replacement organ was 7-8 years away.
When Jocelynn saw the Facebook post about Potter needing a kidney, she said she heard God tell her to donate hers - and as fate would have it, the two were a perfect match. The surgery was performed a month and a half ago, and all went extremely well.
