#GoodNews: Jewish Family Helps Greek Family That Hid Them From The Nazi’s

A Greek family’s new restaurant in Maryland was hit with unexpected electrical repairs that used up all of their savings, preventing them from being able to open the restaurant.

A Jewish family who was saved from the Nazi’s by a Greek family during WWII heard about the restaurants financial problems and wanted to help. It turns out, the two families have a connection.

In Sept. 1943, during the height of World War II, a Greek man hid 9 members of a Jewish family from the Nazis on his property. That man was the grandfather of the restaurant owner.

More than a dozen members of the Jewish family donated thousands of dollars to help the restaurant open. 86-year-old Josephine, who was just 5 when she and her family hid for over a year in a barn, says “If it weren't for them, we wouldn't be here today." It's a debt the family has wanted to repay for 80 years.
