A high school in Illinois has a long standing tradition of drawing names for prom dates. Boys go to the library and draw the name of their date, the girls wait in the gym for their date to come get them. If there's an off number of students, younger students are pulled up to be included in the draw.
The school has been doing this since 1926 and every year the students vote if they want to continue the tradition. The vote is always a unanimous "yes."
