Good News (5/4) - Student Creates Bra that Detects Breast Cancer

Julian, an 18-year-old student from Mexico won the top prize at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) for his creation of EVA, an intelligent bra that can help in the early detection of breast cancer.

Julian was inspired to do something because his mother repeatedly battled cancer until finally she had both breasts removed. The bra is equipped with around 200 biosensors that map the surface of the breast and monitor its temperature, shape and weight.  More heat indicates more blood flow which means those blood vessels are “feeding” something.  In order for the bra to work you only have to wear it for one hour a week!

Julian beat out 13 students from around the world and took home a $20,000 prize.
