Brendan Dassey of 'Making a Murderer' Wins Appeals Court Ruling

Remember Brendan Dassey? The teen featured in Making a Murderer was convicted in 2007 in the death of Teresa Halbach. He later recanted and a judge overturned the conviction last August. The state appealed the ruling, sending the case to the federal appeals court and blocking Brendan’s release. On Thursday (June 22), the appeals court voted 2-1 in favor of upholding the ruling to overturn the conviction. The state of Wisconsin now has 90 days to retry him or the decision becomes final.

Steven Avery is serving a life sentence at a Wisconsin prison. He is seeking a new trial.
