There’s apparently one exception to the 4-ounce rule when taking liquids through airport security in Genoa, Italy: their local pesto.
If travelers want to bring home bigger jars of the stuff, all they have to do is make a donation to the Flying Angels, a local charity that provides flights for seriously ill children who need to travel overseas to receive care. Jars can be up to 17-ounces max and the pesto must be from Genoa. In the first 20 days, more than 500 passengers have taken part in the delicious initiative.
