Good News (7/6) - 11 Day Hockey Game Raises Money for Cancer

(Buffalo, New York) – 2 hockey teams played the longest continuous hockey game for 11 days and raised $1.2 million for the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. One of the players, Mike Lesakowski, came up with the idea for the marathon game after his wife died of cancer at 35. 

The game was called the ‘11 Day Power Play’ and started Thursday, June 22 at 9 p.m. and ended Monday, July 3rd at 8 a.m.  Players set up a make shift sleeping area in the arena.  The final score was Team White: 1697 to Team Blue: 1725!
