Steve Hicks donated $25 million to social work students at the University of Texas at Austin. He says that he wants to help the students alleviate some of their debt for doing what he calls “God’s work.” The money will be split up by the University to set up a permanent scholarship fund, improve education in social work at the University, and be given as matching funds to students paying for their own education.
The university will recognize the donation by naming the department the Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
