(Illinois) - Employees at a fitness center called police after a teenage boy was repeatedly caught sneaking in to play basketball. The officer who responded decided not to arrest the teen, but instead offered to buy him a membership to the gym. The officer agreed to pay $150 out of his pocket to cover a membership for 4 months. When the gym's corporate office heard the story they said they would extend the teen's membership for 2 years. The teen is an NBA hopeful, and has gotten national attention. He just needed a place to play!
The officer said he did it because, “I’d rather have him playing ball than being on the street and possibly getting into trouble.”
