17-year-old Katina has autism. When Katina went trick-or-treating this year many people shut the door in her face and told her she was too old to be trick-or-treating. Katina's family was heartbroken with the experience Katina had while trick-or-treating and posted their story on Facebook.
When Heather heard of the teen's experience she wanted to help even though she had never met Katina. Heather organized a trunk-or-treat at Lehi Junior High to have a Halloween re-do for Katina. The even was a major success and they plan to hold the event again next year for kids who have special needs.
