What if we could save 1 child from sexual abuse?
What if that child was yours?
A light #WorthDefending
December 4, 2017- In the United States 300,000 children are victims of child sexual abuse every year. 90% will experience the trauma of being sexually abused by someone they know. 1 in 5 children will be abused without regard to race, religion, or economic status. The light of their innocence will go out.
What if we could change this? What if we could save 300,000 children? What if one was your child?
Is your child’s light #WorthDefending?
Join us Monday, December 4, 2017, as families all over the world light luminarias to represent the children in their life whose lights are #WorthDefending as part of the A Light #WorthDefending program. Local residents are invited to join us in Lehi, Utah, as we create a massive, FREE luminaria display filled with the names of local children whose loved ones are committed to defending childhood. Come add your child’s name to a luminaria, or bring your own to add to the display, and show your children that they matter to you. Instructions available at defendinnocence.org/luminaria. Those unable to attend can participate by placing luminarias outside their home or business on December 4, taking a picture, and uploading it to social media with the hashtag #WorthDefending.
Everyone is welcome to walk through the luminaria display and enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate.

ABOUT DEFEND INNOCENCE: Defend Innocence is a non-profit that provides digital resources to educate parents and caregivers about how to prevent childhood sexual abuse. We work to break down the stigma surrounding childhood sexual abuse. We are leading the public dialogue to bring the epidemic of abuse to light.
1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be victims of child sexual abuse before the age of 18. The best way to combat this statistic is by educating parents, caregivers and the community on predator grooming patterns, how to confront with kindness and to embrace the awkward by having age-appropriate conversations about healthy sexuality with children. We know it’s an uncomfortable topic for many adults, but we can help. Our online resources include conversation starters, games, blogs and videos that help start the conversation. The #WorthDefending campaign includes the #WorthDefending chalk campaign as well as Kid Chats, a series of videos available on YouTube and Facebook: https://youtu.be/T-XwR1V6NzI
