(Rwanda) - Zipline, a robotics company, and the Rwandan health ministry have teamed up to help deliver medicine and blood to hospitals in remote areas. They are calling it "Uber for blood" and it has cut delivery time to the remote areas from 4 hours to 30 minutes. In 2017, they delivered more than 5,500 units of blood to 12 regional hospitals using the drone.
Doctors send a WhatsApp message to Zipline requesting a drone. Then the drone drops the package, attached to a parachute, near the clinic.
