> CDC Links Drug-Resistant Human Infection Outbreak To Pet Store Puppies - An outbreak of drug-resistant infections is being linked to pet store puppies.

The CDC says 30 people have fallen ill in 13 states due to the outbreak, including four who've been hospitalized. The sick range from eight-months old to age 70, with cases reported from Connecticut to Nevada. The first case was reported in January, and the most recent case was last month.

Anyone who touches a puppy or dog, handles their food, or cleans up after them—including their urine or feces— is advised to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water. Dry your hands using a clean paper towel or air dry, not on clothing. In the absence of soap and water, hand sanitizer can be used. Water and bleach should be used in the area cleaned up.

The 13 states involved include Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah and Wyoming.
