Heather Owen and her daughter were eating at a restaurant in Greensboro, NC. While waiting for their food, Heather’s daughter said she had to use the restroom. Heather says they frequent the restaurant, so she felt it was safe to let her daughter go alone. As the girl was heading to the restroom, Heather noticed a man watching her, then get up and follow her towards the restroom.
Cody Byrd, a North Carolina A&T University graduate student was also at the restaurant that day. He noticed the man and said he got a weird vibe, so he followed the man to the restroom. Cody says, "Just as he got there, (she) came out of the bathroom, and that's when the guy tried to grab her.” Cody intervened, managed to snap a photo of the man as he ran out of the door and got a photo of the truck he got into, including the license plate. Thanks to Cody, authorities arrested the man within a couple hours. He admitted he intended to kidnap the girl.
