The nationwide spike in coronavirus cases is causing hospitals to once again fill up.
A Utah company is helping by turning shipping containers into mini triage units.
HHI in Harrisville is using generators to power the portable units. This will allow hospitals to add space as the number in COVID-19 cases increase, filling up hospital rooms.
Cliff Hokanson, executive president at HHI, told KSL he doesn't want to have to fill the need, but he is glad he can help out. "We hope the need goes down. That's the reality. I don't want to see this. But as we're seeing the numbers just skyrocket out of control and a lot of hospitals are saying, 'We didn't think it was going to go this big, so fast for the fall.'" he said.
The company has units that are ready to go, and more that are currently being built.
Hokanson said, "This is a temporary solution that fills the gap between what they have now, to what they should have in the future for isolating from infectious disease."
These mobile units each have air filtration set up for each container so that they can be used to treat more than just COVID-19.
