Intermountain Healthcare doctors announced new mammogram guidelines Tuesday in response to a surprising new side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Doctors have seen swollen lymph nodes on screening mammograms of women who have recently been vaccinated. That’s because when you get the vaccination there is an inflammatory response in your arm. The appearance of swollen lymph nodes could mean cancer. To avoid a scare, wait at least 4 weeks after the 2nd dose of the vaccine to get your mammogram.
