Nearly two years after the college admissions scandal first came to light, Netflix released a teaser trailer for an upcoming documentary about the bribery scheme. The documentary will highlight the methods used by mastermind Rick Singer to convince his wealthy and privileged clients to cheat their kids' way into college.
Netflix shared the first short teaser in a tweet on Monday (February 22). "Everything you’ve heard is true. But you haven’t heard everything," the caption reads. "Using real conversations recreated from FBI wiretaps the filmmaker behind Fyre brings you Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal"
Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal will feature an "innovative combination of interviews and narrative recreations of the FBI's wiretapped conversations between Singer and his clients," according to Netflix. The teaser plays a snippet of one of the recreated conversations.
Chris Smith, who directed the documentar Fyre and served as an executive producer for Netflix's uber-successful Tiger King, and Jon Karmen, who also worked on Fyre, will bring Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal to Netflix. The documentary will hit the streaming platform on March 17, 2021.
