Utah Grandma Delivers Custom Stuffies To Sick Kids

Over the past two years, 83-year old Linda Rae has been spending her time repairing stuffed animals in her downtown Salt Lake apartment. She has earned the nickname Grandma Bear.

Most of the animals are found in second-hand or discount stores. Grandma Bear takes them home, washes them, mends them, gives them a name, and makes an outfit and custom-designed quilt for each one. Then she drops them off at Ronald McDonald House and Primary Children’s Hospital.

Linda has made over 2,500 personalized teddy bears.

“I’ve just found something that I can do with the health conditions that I have. I can still reach out and touch other people’s lives.”
