We're All Using Grocery Dividers Wrong!

A TV personality recently started a debate on Facebook regarding the conveyor belt dividers.

He says they should be used in the lengthwise direction and not across the width of the belt since they are not meant to be privacy fences. Since they need to be able to trip the sensor to keep groceries from piling up, he argues that they should go lengthwise.

At the grocery store I worked at, they had the tall carts with fronts that opened up to the counter and generally only 1 order could be there at a time. So I don't know for sure.

But it seems to me that in the interest of being able to get more groceries on the counter that they should go the width of the belt and they will still trip the sensor.

What do you think?
