A devoted dad surprised his daughter with a visit on her birthday and spent 17 hours behind the wheel to make it happen. Julio drove more than 11-hundred miles across Texas, from El Paso to Austin and back, so he could have lunch with his daughter, Diana, on her 19th birthday.
He didn’t tell her he was coming, just that he would order her favorite lunch and have it delivered from Uber Eats. So when Diana opened the door expecting to see a driver, but her father was there with balloons, a happy birthday poster, and lunch, she was delighted. It was the first time they’d seen each other in months and to this dad, that was worth the eight-and-a-half hour drive each way.
They enjoyed lunch and followed social distancing guidelines and a half hour later, Julio hopped back in the car to head home. It was a lot of driving, but he says he “was so happy on the way back.”
