Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, the offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, but he also has a doctorate in medicine and works as an orderly at a long-term care facility in Canada.
He’s decided to opt out of the upcoming season to continue working on the frontlines.
He says....Rather than returning to “play the sport he loves,” Duvernay-Tardif says he will continue assisting as an orderly until the novel coronavirus is controlled.
“This is one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make in my life, but I must follow my convictions and do what I believe is right for me personally.”
Laurent was was scheduled to make $2.75 million this season.
