Carlos and Grace were set to get married in Texas mid-July, but their plans changed when he came down with COVID-19. Carlos was hospitalized the same week he was supposed to tie the knot, but he still got to do it, thanks to caring hospital staff.
The groom was admitted on July 15th and spent 10 days in the COVID-19 unit before his condition took a turn for the worse and he was transferred to intensive care. One of his nurses, Matt, found out about the canceled wedding and came up with the idea to bring the wedding to the hospital to cheer up his struggling patient and keep him fighting for his life.
The plan worked and in the days before the ceremony, Carlos’ condition started to improve. Matt bought matching tuxedo t-shirts for them and served as the best man. Carlos said “I do” from his hospital bed at the socially distant wedding, with nurses, hospital staff and immediate family looking on. Matt says, “It was a pretty magical event."
