While cleaning out his garage, Randy Long, a grandfather from Alabama, found some baseballs that he used to pitch to his son and then to his grandson. As both his son and grandson are now older and have moved away, Mr Long decided to donate the balls to a local batting cage, where he also left a touching note.
“Hope someone can use these balls. I found them cleaning out my garage. I pitched them to my son and grandson for countless rounds. My son is now 46 and my grandson is 23. I am 72 and what I wouldn’t give to pitch a couple of buckets to them.”
His grandson, Ethan, heard about it and drove 2 hours to spend some time at the batting cages with his grandfather.
“I didn’t realize how much it meant to him until I saw the note.”
The story has also inspired others to spend more time with loved ones making memories.
