In 2019, Florida resident Michael Esmond paid utility bills for 36 households that were at risk of having their utilities shut off. This year, with both Hurricane Sally and the Covid-induced economic downfall, he thought he needed to up the ante.
Michael owns Gulf Breeze Pools and Spas and business was good for him this year, something he says he's "almost ashamed" to tell people because he knows how hard it's been for many.
"We've had a good year, and that's why I want to share what I have with the people who need it."
This year, Michael paid off past due utility bills of 114 families
“I can relate to people suffering and not being able to pay bills. That's probably one of the biggest motivators for me, because I've been there."
