(Portland, Maine) Andrew Lermand and his family were making funeral plans for his 69-year old mother, Bettina Lerman. She had been in the hospital on a ventilator and in a coma for 60 days with a severe case of COVID. Doctors said that her lungs “were destroyed” and that she was never going to wake up. So her family made the difficult decision to remove her from life support.
They started planning her funeral and picking out a gravestone and on the day they were going to remove Bettina from the ventilator, Andrew got a call from his mother’s doctor. She had just woken up! Bettina is now out of the ICU and her health is steadily improving.
